Each morning there was fresh coffee, oatmeal, and fruit (with a bonus surprise of waffles on Sunday which were delicious). I could keep going but just trust me this is by far an amazing place to stay. Can't wait to find a reason to come back to Saxapahaw.
Upon arriving Matt greeted us with a smile. Everything about this place is just homey. The property is beautiful and there are walking trails down to the Haw River.
My wife and I celebrated our tenth anniversary here a few weeks ago. We had a wonderful time walking the trails and bird watching by the river. Your location is well situated to take advantage of the canoeing/kayaking on the Haw and then the 5-star gas station- that was really a nice surprise!
I’m not usually able to relax when we travel (hotels are mostly just climate controlled places for me to read!), but in your Inn I felt very comfortable and welcome right away. We had a great night, plus the delicious breakfast was a fine start to our eleventh year of marriage!
The room was clean and comfortable. Every day Matt made a fire in the wood burning stove which kept the inn nice and warm.
So, I really like the place, the proximity, and the overall experiences that I had staying at the River Landing Inn. It is where my now wife and I met, but the organization or lack thereof of the booking is what elicits this review. There is a real shortage of places to stay near the Haw River Ballroom and this was always a great fit for us. The issue is that booking is not streamlined at all. I have twice booked with them just to have my reservation changed after the fact or denied completely. In fact, I had just booked the cabin in September for a November stay, and was confirmed with an invoice, just to have it denied two weeks later. Two weeks! And no real explanation of why. Just, "Hey, here is your canceled invoice, sorry"... It is unfortunate, because as I said it is a great piece of land and once we were there everyone was very hospitable, but cannot with good confidence recommend to friends. We are now going to stay in Chapel Hill or drive back to Raleigh after concerts, which is a way different experience. :(
What a fantastic place to stay. Matt and his wife were wonderful and took good care of us. Had a great breakfast Saturday and Sunday morning. Cannot say enough great things about them and our stay. Hope to go back soon.
